Fakaalofa Atu my name is Deezhanay this is my blog about the novel we have been reading for the past few weeks.

The title of the novel is Bow down shadrach a book by joy cowely it’s an amazing book about a girl , her family and pet horse the main characters are Hannah, Sky, Mickey, Sophie, Shadrach and Joe. Hannah loves Shadrach more than her own family Shadrach is a very old clydesdale horse he used to be in circus acts but they were shut down for reasons, Hannah’s parents brought Shadrach on their wedding day and has been apart of their family ever since, when Shadrach got really old  they decided to give him to a man named Niel stack to take him down to a resting home in nelson but Hannah was really against this. After awhile there was a rumour that Shadrach was sold to a dog food factory Hannah didn’t want to believe it when mickey told her they made a plan to get him back.

Did you know that Parihaka  remembrance day is about non-violent war against the government and Parihaka village? Did you know that one day there was a massive bird that fell into their village and flew into the sky and just as it left the ground for the sky it dropped one little feather. They chose it as their symbol for peace and harmony but then the government decided to sell Parihakas settlement grounds and they said no but they didn’t fight they chose non-violence.

How to make a Taniko band :

• First get 2 cardboard bands but not the thick kind like the box get the flimsy piece that’s white and small just ask your teacher.
•  Next you want to measure your head size and draw a line on where the other end stops when its not to tight and not to loose just right you need that line for how far you need to go.
• Then you want to get a ruler,rubber and a pencil then want to start drawing your patterns on to your band but before drawing write your name on it so you know its yours .
• Then you want to go over the pencil out lines with vivid and then colour it in and leave some white the only colours we were aloud to use was black and white and add some white feathers and then your finished.

On Tuesday the 18th of October the senior  syndicate  went to the museum to see how people migrated back in the days to get to one place to another.We did lots of activities and stuff we went there in two separate buses to the museum. It was so much fun that i would want to go again oh and it’s free for new Zealand citizens. When we were walking around we found a lot of group members around the museum. I didn’t like the walking around bit because people kept stopping then going then stopping then going it was annoying but the we went to the volcanic classroom and we did all kinds of stuff in there.

On Tuesday 22nd of march we went to muriwai beach there was two lifeguards Valintina and Reese we learnt about rips , defib and the stuff on the defib. We were able to see the jeski and the big first aid kit and bag we were taught how to use most of the stuff that was in the safety bag. Afterwards it was morning tea and then we played fruit salad and it was super fun then we learnt about the safety rules  like if you have doubt stay out or swimming in between the flags and then we ate lunch. I had a chicken and lettuce and and a giant water bottle i was in the car with one of my friends and to other people a little bit later we had to split up in half one went with boggy boards and one without them once we were done at the beach also the sand on the west side is black and the south side sand is white so done at the beach we had to stay between the adult square and it was super fun and after a little while we had to get out and switch groups and then it started to rain and since we were so close to the ocean it was sore it was like the feeling of grass but harder on the way back up to the shelter i found three seashells but sadly i dropped on but i still had the giant clam shell and a little one to and after we got changed it was so cold and we said our goodbyes and we were off to school again on the way back i fell asleep in the back of the car and i was so happy to go back home here are some photos.
